Father as a young Royal Marine in 1944. He lost a leg in 1945, but that didn't stop him pursuing an active life and an excellent career in the Foreign Office. He was British Ambassador in Libya 1974-78 and Stockholm 1980-84. He was, by any yardstick, a truly remarkable man. He died on January 8th 1998 and the whole family misses him.
